Penguin Random House is looking for a Marketing Assistant to join the editorial team at the Penguin Publishing Group (PPG) to support the Vice President of Marketing Strategy. The Marketing Assistant will assist with the execution of marketing processes and campaigns, conduct various research and reporting, and help with brand marketing projects. Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical support for various marketing and promotional campaigns
  • Update, organize, and maintain information in internal marketing database systems

  • Liaise with the Sales and Imprint Marketing departments on key titles, authors and/or categories
  • Monitor sales and metrics associated with marketing promotions

A. N. Publishing | Social Media Intern

Hachette is looking for a Publicity Assistant to work with the Deputy Director and Executive Director of Publicity at Grand Central Publishing (a division of Hachette Book Group). This includes building tours, publicizing a wide range of major front-list titles, and serving as a liaison between the division and all types of media, bookstores, and high profile authors and literary agents.

 Responsibilities:

  • Support Directors on a wide range of books by prominent authors in both Fiction and Non-Fiction (e.g., memoir, essay collections, cookbooks, diet books, science, advice, humor, etc.)
  • Write press releases/pitch emails, create press kits, pull media lists
  • Organize author tours and events, book travel/accomodations, maintain tour itineraries, and conduct appropriate follow-up
  • Develop and maintain relationships with broadcast, pint and online media to secure coverage
  • Serve as a liaison between the division and all types of media, bookstores, and other in-house departments – e.g., editorial, marketing, sales, etc
  • Communicate with high profile authors and literary agents
  • General administrative responsibilities include: mailing books, answering telephones, photocopying, filing, distributing in-house materials, appropriately handling invoices, and maintaining publicity databases
  • Format and send daily internal email announcement of publicity successes (Hot Books)

Requirements:

  • Interest in book publishing is essential – publishing experience or internships preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of the media are paramount
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Excel necessary
  • Ability to multi-task and attend to details in a fast-paced environment, and determine priorities, while staying organized, are also essential
  • Knowledge of Cision Media database a plus
