The Huffington Post is seeking a savvy web editor to join their team. The primary responsibility of the web editor is to conceptualize, create and program weekly content for the site using the Huffington Post CMS. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, up-to-date on current events and a skilled writer. An ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment and a passion for women’s content is a must.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and publishing new content daily using the Huffington Post CMS
  • Programming and updating pages with our most current content
  • Fact-checking and top-editing all blogs, articles and general editorial material
  • Researching, formatting, and producing slideshows
  • Creating playlists and adding metadata within our video platform, 5min
  • Pitching on-brand, relevant content ideas weekly
  • Writing, programming and scheduling our weekly newsletter
  • Assisting on shoots for weekly web series
  • Working with freelance writers, production team, other Huffington Post verticals and social media teams to ensure maximum promotion across all possible outlets
  • Assist on shoots for weekly web series

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years experience in writing/editing/blogging, online publishing, or related field
  • Ability to turn around tight, witty, accurate copy while meeting daily deadlines
  • Interest in and grasp of current events and women’s issues
  • Strong knowledge of online media and social media
  • Experience using a CMS and intermediate HTML skills
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Ability to multitask

Position: Associate Publicist

Location: New York, NY

Penguin Group is looking for an Associate Publicist/Publicist to secure print coverage, radio interviews, author appearances, online media, and book signing tours for non-fiction titles. This person will brainstorm and execute creative publicity strategies, interact with authors and agents, and write press releases and materials.

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 1 year prior publicity experience for the Associate level; At least 2 years of prior publicity experience for the Publicist level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects at a time
  • Ability to travel up to 5% by airplane, train, and/or car required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CisionPoint, and Publicity Assistant
  • Book publishing experience preferred, ideally with non-fiction titles
  • Knowledge of WordPress and FinalCut Pro a plus

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with and pitching national and regional media and sending books to media contacts
  • Maintaining and strengthening media contacts, particularly in the creativity, self-help, parenting, health, fitness, popular culture, and wellness realms
  • Helping maintain the publicity database
  • Researching unique projects and contributing to the social media outreach
  • Representing the imprint at meetings with booksellers, agents, and other departments
