Full-Time/Part Time Fall Internship – for academic credit

Your Challenge
Fodor’s Travel, a division of Penguin Random House, seeks a Digital Marketing intern for the fall of 2014. This position will work closely with our Digital Marketing team to aid in the following tasks: content syndication, Adobe Analytics reporting, basic SEO tasks, as well as general projects that may arise. The right candidate has excellent written, verbal, organizational and time management skills; can work independently and with a team; and is able to analyze and assess marketing data. Experience in digital marketing or related education is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Project manage our content syndication program, which includes weekly partner pitching, story building, Q&A, and reporting
  • Professionally represent Fodors.com during any engagement with potential or current partners
  • Report on Fodors.com digital marketing progress and traffic metrics via Adobe Analytics
  • Collaborate and strategize with the digital marketing team to meet monthly/quarterly/yearly goals
  • Perform basic SEO tasks such as keyword research, competitive research, link building, manual site audits, and more

Random House Children’s Books, part of Penguin Random House is currently seeking a creative and organized intern for our Publicity Department, for Fall 2014. This internship is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn about book publishing, develop writing and communication skills, and gain a greater understanding of the media landscape. You’ll work closely with department of publicity professionals and will have the opportunity to attend weekly marketing meetings, author meetings, and sales launch meetings.

Responsibilities:
-Write press materials and compile media lists
-Assist in booking media
-Research media contacts and maintain databases
-Coordinate mailings
-Take minutes at meetings

Your challenge:
The Brand Department at Penguin Young Readers seeks a departmental assistant to support the VP, Director, and Manager with brand and licensing.

Responsibilities include: 

• Keeping calendars (including appointments, meetings, lunches, dinners, events)
• Providing administrative support: tracking invitations & charitable requests, ordering supplies, sending & receiving packages, photocopying, submitting travel and expense reports
• Coordinating internal meetings with agents/authors/artists, managing hospitality needs
• Taking meeting notes and distributing accordingly
• Creating and maintaining brand profiles, updating quarterly brand reports and distributing accordingly
• Tracking and maintaining monthly POS report, updating and distributing recap
• Gathering data from appropriate groups and running reports for business reviews; converting data to charts, graphs, visuals, and creating business review in PowerPoint and InDesign
• Researching partnership opportunities and maintaining database
• Supporting brand and category analysis with regular running of reports, maintaining master databases, tracking competitive titles, researching using internal tools
• Managing licensing approval process, royalties tracking, licensing brand profiles, and insuring invoicing is routed, tracked, and paid
• Providing support in creation of licensing style guides

Your profile:
The ideal candidate possesses:
• A 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
• Prior office/administrative experience
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle confidential information with discretion
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional phone manner and sound judgment
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
• Skill with numbers / financials
• Publishing experience preferred
• Knowledge of In Design preferred

Your challenge:
Penguin Random House is seeking a Publishing & Publicity Assistant to join the lifestyle division of the Crown Publishing Group.

This position reports into both the S.V.P, Publisher for Clarkson Potter, Potter Style, Potter Craft, Harmony and Ten Speed Press and the V.P., Director of Publicity for Clarkson Potter, Potter Style and Potter Craft.

Responsibilities include: 

• Day-to- day administrative support for both
• Helping to implement book publicity campaigns and managing event logistics

Candidates are required to prioritize, meet deadlines and be proactive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, organization, and writing skills are essential. The ideal candidate is also savvy with social media and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
