Kill Genre: Our Fourth Reading…”(No) Thanks!”

(Le) Poisson Rouge‘s Kill Genre is a reading series that “showcases groundbreaking works that push the boundaries of form and flirt dangerously with hybridity, integrates musical performance, and includes the audience in innovative ways.”
Hosted by (Le) Poisson Rouge, a multimedia art venue, Kill Genre features New York’s best and upcoming writers who “brandish their skills in other genres—from fiction to essays to memoir to more experimental forms—because, when it comes to genre, it’s kill or be killed.”
Kill Genre’s fourth event includes readings from poet Jordan E. Franklin, author and editor Sarah Jean Grimm, author and poet Michelle Yasmine Valladares, and NYC Emerging Writers Fellow Stephen Langlois.

YPG Holiday Book Drive & Gift Wrapping Party

The holiday season is upon us and what better way to get ready than to join The Young to Publishing Group (YPG) for their Holiday Book Drive & Gift Wrapping Party! YPG is partnering with the Women’s National Book Association and the Children’s Book Council (CBC) to collect book donations from publishers and readers. Donations will be given to nonprofit organizations Behind the Book and Community Caregivers. Behind the Book “brings books into the classroom,” while Community Caregivers “help[s] neighbors within the community maintain independence.” So, if you have a book you no longer need or want, bring it to the book drive. YPG will make sure it finds a nice home. Wrapping paper and snacks will be provided, so everyone can wrap donated books and spread holiday cheer!

Three Rooms Press: Prose! Poetry! Party! 5!

Three Rooms Press “serves as a leading independent publisher of cut-the-edge creative, including fiction, memoir, poetry translations, drama, and art.” It hosts an annual reading featuring its top authors. At this year’s fifth annual event, Three Rooms Press will present readings by award-winning novelist and poet Meagan Brothers, famed mystery and crime author Adam Lance Garcia, and poets Robert Gibbons, Karen Hildebrand, Jane Ormerod, Kofi Forson, Aimee Herman, David Lawton, Jane LeCroy, John S. Paul, Constance Renfrow, and Rebecca YS Perez. Audience members will be eligible to win awesome (and free) prizes throughout the night!
