Scout Books & Media

Scout is a small company with a rapidly growing book program — a motivated intern would learn how a book is made from start to finish, about photo research and creative direction of book design, how to develop ideas and proposals, and what the industry is like.Scout  Books & Media was founded by Susan Knopf in 2011 as a book packager, literary agency, and consulting firm.  Her previous experience includes packaging books with Reading Rainbow in its fledgling days, headed up publishing imprints at HarperCollins, Penguin, and Parachute (producer of John Deere, Seventeen magazine, Goosebumps, and Mary-Kate & Ashley books).

In addition, through the American Book Producers Association, a group of some three dozen book packagers, an intern would have an opportunity to be exposed to other book producers if interested.

Intern will be involved with editorial development and research, photo research and rights, presentation materials, and more.
