The Virgins of Islamic Paradise: A Global History

Professor Nerina Rustomiji will be giving a talk on the meaning of the virgin in Islamic literature and culture at the New York Public Library (42nd and 5th Avenue, Manhattan) Thursday July 18th at 1:15 pm. This talk is free on a first come, first served basis. The talk will be focused on American perceptions of Islamic culture, and discuss how stereotypes and assumptions became the norm for western understandings of Eastern culture.
