NYLON Magazine is hiring a full-time editor for our NYLON Daily newsletters.

Responsibilities include researching, writing, and editing content for each of the 10 daily city newsletters, conceptualizing and executing strategy for expanding the newsletters’ reach, overseeing social media connected to the promotion of local events, and creating crossover content for the NYLON website.

Applicants must have a strong research and editorial background, knowledge of Photoshop, as well as their finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest and greatest in fashion, beauty, music, culture, and more (not to mention an understanding of the NYLON brand, which is clever, irreverent, and never run-of-the-mill women’s magazine.

Position: Deputy Editor

Description:

-Leads the digital content team on day-to-day execution of content.

-Contributes to content direction under the guidance of the Director of Digital Operations and Editorial Director of Content.

-Responsible for breaking celebrity and exclusive news content for Latina.com.

-Responsible for managing relationships with celebrity bloggers and other influencers.

-Works with print and digital teams to curate content that goes on the site on a daily basis.

–Pitches and writes stories on Latina.com.

-Top edits all content features on site and delegates editing responsibility to other editors when necessary.

-Sets the daily digital content lineup, and with approval from Director of Digital Operations & Editorial Director, selects the weekly features. Manages both the weekly & daily editorial calendar to ensure all content launches on deadline.

-Responsible for weekly reports on highest performing stories and traffic goals

-Manages a team of both junior and senior level editors and the day-to-day workflow process to maintain integrity, quality and efficiency.

-Contributes to the site’s content distribution by outsourcing relevant content to key partners; publicizes the site and makes connections for PR opportunities.

-Announces monthly cover reveal and develops an online strategy for maximizing traffic to the site around the cover subject.

-Coach junior staff members to build on their writing & editing skills.

-Ability to repackage content quickly based on current news & trends.

-Assist Editorial Director of Content in overseeing synergy between Latina.com & LMV’s standalone food site TheLatinKitchen.com.

-Be a trending news & hot topic junkie who can quickly find the angle in a story and make it both engaging and relevant for the Latina audience

-Stays abreast of trending and news topics, entertainment, style and lifestyle news.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Experience in producing content for Latino audiences or a strong understanding of Latino culture

-2+ years experience managing an editorial team

-Excellent editing skills and ability to write super-clickable headlines

-Be a big ideas person; don’t be afraid to take a risk or motivate the editorial team to do the same

-A clever writer/editor with a nose for a great story and the ability to package it into a unique and engaging blog post, video, or photo slideshow

-Lots of assigning experience, and a rolodex of excellent freelance writers and editors

-Understanding of metrics and SEO mandatory

-Experience developing editorial calendars and content lineups

-Knowledge of the growing competitive landscape and a desire to keep Latina the #1 website for U.S. Hispanic women
