The James Beard Foundation is seeking a highly motivated editorial assistant for its department of publications and media. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who are passionate about the food industry and have two years of professional editorial experience. Primary responsibilities will include: website content creation, social media support, coordinating logistics and receipt of editorial materials for bimonthly printed publication, pitching ideas/writing content for various print and digital publications, managing the Foundation’s photography program and assets, and general department support. Position: Junior Sales Executive

Crain Communication’s corporate reprint group works closely with clients to promote their brands with custom reprints. We help our clients repurpose their editorial coverage and turn it into a unique marketing opportunity with our print and digital products. We seek a candidate who is self-motivated, results driven, and engaging with clients to be responsible for Crain’s regional magazine brands and maximize revenue opportunity in these territories.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell reprints and usage rights for individual articles and compilations in print and digital format
  • Review content daily in print/online as assigned by territory to identify quality prospects
  • Establish and maintain new and existing accounts through database management, lead tracking and strong personal follow ups
  • Identify key customer challenges and create strategic plans for meeting revenue goals
  • Convert incoming requests to sales through active listening, education on content licensing and matching clients with one of our products/services
  • Work with creative on product development and fulfillment.
  • Oversee billing and related tasks to ensure good client relations

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in newspaper or magazine reprint sales, classified sales, advertising, or related sales experience.
  • Excellent persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with newspaper and magazine publishing a plus
  • Entrepreneurial and a creative thinker – a strong closer with a winning attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have experience with the Microsoft office suite
