• Keeping track of the daily and weekly priorities for VP Digital Content Development
• Coordination of small and large meetings, on-site and off-site

• Planning foreign and domestic travel, including detailed itineraries

The Contracts and Permissions department at Penguin Random House seeks an Assistant to support the Copyrights team. The primary role is filing copyright registration claims, and a secondary role is assisting in permission-clearing book projects. The Assistant will gain knowledge of copyrights, permissions and rights, and will have opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities include:

• Filing copyright registration claims with the United States Copyright Office (extracting information from books, obtaining information from contracts and from editors, submitting applications electronically to Copyright Office)
• Responding to any questions or demands the Copyright Office may have in relation to said applications
• Corresponding with literary agents and occasionally authors to gather information and materials to complete registration process
• Assisting with obtaining and reviewing permission licenses for right to use copyrighted works in Penguin Random House publications
• Maintaining paper records and electronic databases
• Handling certain copyright-related queries from editors and other Penguin Random House staff, authors, and agents
• Providing administrative support (filing, photocopying, etc.)

Your profile:

Candidates must be self-starters and quick learners and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational skill and the ability to prioritize assignments. Individuals must be extremely detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment that is deadline driven and must have the ability to juggle a wide variety of responsibilities as required. Prior office experience is a must.

Core computer skills required, including speed and accuracy. This position also requires strong interpersonal skills, an energetic, proactive, flexible individual who can work both independently and as a team player. There is high phone, fax, mail, and email volume to which candidate must respond in a courteous, timely manner. Duties and responsibilities may expand and/or change based on departmental needs.
