Description: 
This position includes key editorial and administrative tasks and will provide an opportunity to learn editorial and publishing skills.  Responsibilities include: providing reader’s notes on manuscripts, scheduling meetings, answering heavy call volume, routing invoices and contracts, preparing materials for marketing, positioning, and sales meetings; tracking catalog copy and covers, requests for author photos, etc; and acting as a proactive point person for authors on everyday requests.

Requirements: 
Ideal candidate should have:  Bachelor’s Degree, Demonstrated writing ability , Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Professional, Strong organizational skills, Ability to communicate clearly, Analytical thinking ability , Interest and enthusiasm for commercial and bestselling fiction and non-fiction, focusing on (but not limited to) mainstream releases, thrillers, erotica, horror, and media tie-ins.

Harlequin is seeking an Assistant Editor that has an interest in wholesome romances with an inspirational worldview. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for evaluating solicited and unsolicited manuscripts in order to recommend titles for publishing in the Love Inspired Suspense and Love Inspired Historical lines, reporting directly to the Executive Editor.

Responsibilities:
•Performs all editorial functions, including providing revisions to authors and line editing, overseeing copy editing and author approval/alterations and providing editorial input into packaging design in order to ensure key selling features are reflected in the product package.
•Writes back cover copy and back page ads, as well as contributes to the development and execution of innovative editorial ideas and concepts, and contributes to new company initiatives.
•Represents the program/company at both internal and external conferences and with the media.

Requirements: 
•Undergraduate degree
•At least one year in publishing, preferably with an editorial focus
•Prior administrative experience required
•Experience working with authors
•Excellent customer service skills
•Able to prioritize and remain focused
•Ability to pay close attention to detail
•Strong organizational skills
•Strong communication, planning and teamwork skills

We need a detail-oriented person who can read lots of copy each day (50+ posts), can spot missing and/or misspelled words from a mile away, and has excellent grammar and punctuation skills. The ideal candidate will have that perfect mix of creative and operational — be able to make sound editorial judgments on copy while also possessing strong organizational skills and a deadline-driven attitude to keep the Internet Content Trains moving. You won’t be afraid to speak up when you see a headline that’s not optimized or a paragraph that doesn’t make sense.
