Intern needed for Scout Books & Media Inc., a busy book packager. We work with talented writers, photographers, editors, and designers to create and produce books, and consult with publishers and brands. We work with well-known publishers including Time Inc., Scholastic, Bearport, Highlights, and Rowman and Littlefield, and we produce custom publishing projects for individuals and companies. Scout is a small company with a rapidly growing book program — a motivated intern would learn how a book is made from start to finish, conduct hands-on photo and illustration research, learn about book design, how to develop ideas and proposals, and what the industry is like. In addition, through the American Book Producers Association, a group of some three dozen book packagers, an intern would have an opportunity to be exposed to other book producers and attend occasional meetings and panel discussions. Intern candidate should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Must be for course credit.
