The Authors Guild has opened a membership level called “The Emerging Writing Membership,” which is aimed at helping writers in the earliest stages of their careers. This is a useful tool for writers, but it is also a great thing for publishers to keep up with since The Authors Guild advocates for authors on issues of copyright, fair contracts, free speech and tax fairness, and has initiated lawsuits in defense of authors’ rights; these are all matters which concern and impact the relationship between the writer and the publisher/agents they work with. Membership includes access to events, writing resources, media insurance, and other helpful exclusives.
