CFA Master Class: Colin Harrison

Critically acclaimed author Colin Harrison will give a Crime Fiction Master Class, discussing his latest novel You Belong to Me, the challenges of writing crime fiction, and the influence of New York on his work with his editor Sarah Crichton of Sarah Crichton Books. Harrison is the author of other novels like Break and Enter, Bodies Electric, Manhattan Nocturne, Afterburn, The Havana Room, The Finder, and Risk. He also serves as the editor in chief at Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Dubbed “the bard of Gotham mayhem” by Kirkus, Harrison’s novels are characterized by violence, sex, and suspense that explore the underside of city life, focusing on Manhattan and expanding to the outer boroughs.

PoetNY Open Mic ft. Danez Smith

Do you write poetry and would like a chance to recite it live? Bowery Poetry is holding a Poetry Open Mic night, hosted by Mason Granger. Sign ups are at 8pm right as the doors open. There will be 20 slots open, first come, first serve. Plus, the first ten performances will be recorded and streamed live on Bowery Poetry’s Youtube channel. The event will begin at 8:30pm.

In attendance will be Danez Smith, “a black, queer, poz writer and performer.” His books include Don’t Call Us Dead[insert] boy, and Black Movie. Smith has won many awards for his poetry, including the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry.
