What: Women’s Leadership in Publishing Workshop

On Friday, April 27, Marymount Manhattan College’s Institute for Pre-College and Advanced Study will host a “Women’s Leadership in Publishing Workshop.” Part of the university’s Women in Leadership Series, the one-day event will feature presentations and panel discussions from prominent women in the industry, including M.S. in Publishing Adjunct Professors Kathy Sandler (senior manager of content applications at Penguin Random House), Veronica Wilson (director, business development at The Nielsen Company), and Jennifer Perry (the keynote speaker is the vice president of Media Products & publisher of Sesame Workshop). Full-time faculty member Manuela Soares, who is the incoming director of both the M.S. in Publishing program and Pace University Press, will act as the workshop’s convener.
Seats are guaranteed to people who register before Friday, April 13th.
Panels
The morning panel, “Diversity in Children’s Book Publishing,” will be moderated by author, publisher, and entrepreneur Cheryl Willis Hudson. Jalissa Corrie (marketing and publicity assistant at Lee and Low Books), Nancy Mercado (editorial director at Scholastic), and Teresa Mlawer (consultant and former publisher at Lectorum) will contribute to the discussion.
The afternoon panel, “Alumni from Pace University’s M.S. in Publishing program,” will showcase the knowledge and expertise of alumni working in the industry. Panelists will include Caroline Acebo (director of foreign rights at Brower Literary and Management), Tara Hart (associate manager: rights and permissions at Penguin Random House), Ebony LaDelle (senior marketing manager at HarperCollins), Michelle Richter (associate agent at Fuse Literary), and Jessica Napp (associate director of Publicity at Rizzoli International).
