With midterms right around the corner, it’s a good idea to get some motivation from some wonderful authors and poets. E. E. Cummings has some wonderful quotes about perseverance:

“To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else – means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”

Edward Estlin (E. E.) Cummings began writing poetry at a young age, which allowed him to cultivate his own writing style. He wrote over 2,900 poems  including Buffalo Bill, and a few plays, including Him.

Cummings was known to write in a sparse style, making sure to use key words to get his point across in his works. He would also break down words in his poetry by syllables and forgo the use of a left side margin. His poetry broke the mold of what was considered normal during this time period.

“To destroy is always the first step in any creation.”
