Amy Astley is editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest. Since taking this position in 2016, she has been reshaping the magazine’s presence for the digital era. Astley began her career at House & Garden, where she worked for five years until its closing in 1993. Next she went to Vogue as a Beauty Associate and worked her way up to Beauty Director. During her 13 years at Vogue she edited the fashion section called INDEX and helped launch numerous projects, including Teen Vogue, under the guide of Anna Wintour.  At Architectural Digest, Astley has increased the online presence of the magazine by showcasing videos of celebrity homes and launching new digital verticals. The magazine’s increase in their social media has resulted in a 34 percent rise in print subscriptions since January 2016.

The theme  for her lecture is “Magazines in the Digital Age.” She’ll address how all the digital platforms and print are integrated and how/why Architectural Digest can thrive and innovate through this period of intense digital disruption.

She will lecture on Thursday, March 28thfrom 6-8pm at 163 William Street. All M.S. in Publishing students are expected to attend.
