Loyalty Bookstores is presenting a virtual launch event for the upcoming debut release of Required Reading for the Disenfranchised Freshman, with a conversation between Kristen R. Lee and J. Elle. The event will be held virtually through Crowdcast and is free to attend.
Required Reading for the Disenfranchised Freshman is a contemporary young adult novel following a young Black girl as she faces the challenges of starting college at an elite—and historically racist—university. Author Kristen R. Lee drew inspiration from her own experiences at a predominantly white school for this story.
Lee will be joined by J. Elle, New York Times bestselling author of young adult and middle-grade fiction, best known for her debut fantasy novel, Wings of Ebony.
Required Reading for the Disenfranchised Freshman is set to be released on February 1st, 2022, published by Crown Books for Young Readers.
