The David Pecker Distinguished Professor for the 2022-2023 school year is back for his Spring 2023 lecture. John Sargent, the previous CEO of Macmillan and executive VP of the Holtzbrick Publishing Group, will return to campus on April 27th. He’s received both the Legacy Award by New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association, and the PEN American Award.

Sargent will be doing a Q+A session with Manuela Soares, our program director, where he will discuss challenging topics that currently impact the publishing industry, such as book censorship, the failed merger of Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster, and the lawsuit between Hachette Book Group and Internet Archive.

This event will be in-person, and publishing students have the opportunity to RSVP to the MS Publishing email.
