On Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, Micael Pietsch, the Chief Executive Officer of Hachette Book Group will address students at Pace University in a Zoom lecture entitled A Few Lessons I’ve Picked Up Along the Way. The event will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Hachette Book Group (HBG) is the U.S. division of Hachette Livre, the world’s third-largest publisher of trade and educational books. In the U.S. HBG comprises of ten publishing groups – Basic Books Group; Grand Central Publishing; Hachette Audio; Hachette Books; Hachette Nashville; Little, Brown; Little, Brown Books for Young Readers; Orbit; Running Press Group; and Workman Publishing.
Michael Pietsch oversaw the acquisitions of Workman Publishing, Perseus Books, Black Dog & Leventhal, and Hyperion Books as CEO. He also served as the Publisher at Little, Brown and held editorial positions at Crown and Scribner. In his 40-year publishing career he has published books by award-wining acclaimed writers like Michae Connelly, Malcolm Gladwell, Peter Guralnick, Stephenie Meyer, Walter Mosley, James Patterson, Keith Richards, J.K. Rowling, Stacy Schiff, David Sedaris, Donna Tartt, David Foster Wallace, and Malala Yousafzai.
While continuing to edit select books, he is motivated to foster close partnership between writers and publishers as CEO. Pietsch also serves on the boards of PEN America and Poets & Writers, and he is Immediate Past Chair of the Association of American Publishers.
