PUB 622R Leadership & Innovation in Creative Environments
This course is intended to prepare current and future leaders in the publishing industry for the responsibilities, situations, and challenges they may encounter during their careers in publishing. Leaders must learn to balance the interests of many stakeholders, including their reports, their manager, other departments, upper management, shareholders, and the community, among others. This course is intended to help students meet these expectations on a daily basis and excel. Topics include understanding leadership and supervising individuals, ethics of leadership, specific leadership challenges in publishing departments, DEI, leadership communication, and leading change, among others. Articles and videos will focus on publishing examples whenever possible.
About the instructor
Sonny Regelman is a publishing professional with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Her expertise ranges from editorial and product development, curriculum, sales, and marketing, among others. She holds a master’s degree in writing and Publishing from Emerson College and a master’s in business administration from Texas State University.
