Libraries provide access to information and tools that may not otherwise be accessible to some NYC residents. They promote literacy and education to all demographics, acting as community centers that provide space and resources, empowering everyone to grow. Most people don’t know just how many resources and access features a NYC library card offers.
NYC has 219 Public Library Branches across the five boroughs, and with a library card, you have access to not only books, but e-books through Libby, as well as music, movies, access to computers, and more.
More includes:
- Access to Culture Pass, a program where you can reserve a pass and get free admission to museums, gardens, cultural institutions, etc.
- Rent an instrument for a month through the Brooklyn Public Library
- Book free studio time! Up to two studio sessions per month, from 15 minutes to three hours
- Borrow a record from the Brooklyn Public Library
- Get free seeds from The Seed Library collection
- Rent board games
- Borrow tablets and hotspots through the Emergency Connectivity Fund Program
- And other resources and services, such as Immigrant Services, Social Work, Tax Asistance, Legal Aid, Housing and Tenant Rights, Food Security, Financial Assistance, and Resources.
Brooklyn, Queens, and New York Public Library cards are available to NYC residents, temporary residents/visitors, and Pace Students! As a Pace Student, you can apply for a physical or digital free NYPL card online. You can renew your card at any location with proof of identity and home address. You can also apply for a Brooklyn Public Library card or a Queens Public Library card for access to a larger catalog.
NYC campus students have access to one additional library, Pace’s Beekman library, located at 15 Beekman St. The Beekman library provides access to over 120 research databases, stocks both print and e-books, and has interlibrary loan services so that you can borrow books they may not have from other libraries. The library is open from 8 am to 1 pm, and the reference desk is open from 10 am to 8 pm, Monday through Saturday. Hours vary on Friday and Saturday.
