Student who attended came together for a group photo!
MS in Publishing program students joined together in the publishing program’s office on Wednesday, December 10th to participate in this year’s Winter Book Swap. Students brought in books to swap throughout the week, and our graduate assistant and student aide wrapped the books in newspaper. On top of each book, we included a ward with a quote by from Jane Austen. Student’s choose their “Blind Date” book by flipping the quote cards to find the genre, tropes, and content themes of the book labeled on the other side.

A wrapping station was set up so students could still participate if their book was unwrapped, and free bookmarks were given out to those who attended. Multiple students brought in treats for their classmates, including Dunkin’ Donut’s munchkins, a non-alcoholic version of a Puerto Rican drink called coquito, and bundles of tea and coffee to take home. For those who were interested, there were goodie bags of hot chocolate featuring Swiss Miss packets, snowman-shaped vanilla marshmallows, and mini candy canes!
In the spring semester, two more book swaps will take place, giving students another chance to get together and build their community. The next book swap will be Valentines Day themed, and will take place on Thursday, February 12th.
