A Public Space, an independent, nonprofit publisher, will be accepting applications through February 28th, 2026, for a six-month editorial fellowship. Those interested in editorial work and have a passion for culturally, aesthetically, and economically diverse publishing communities are encouraged to apply.
The editorial fellow will have the opportunity to work within all operations of A Public Space, such as their imprint, A Public Space Books, multiple virtual books clubs, and will serve as lead editor for a piece to be published in their literary and arts magazine. Responsibilities include general office work, assisting with the management of submissions, marketing and publicity, reporting on manuscripts, research, and proofreading. Fellows are also invited to participate in editorial meetings, will regularly meet with senior editorial staff, and will be trained in all aspects of editing.
The compensation for the fellowship will be $6,000, and fellows will be expected to work on their own schedule, with about fifteen hours of responsibilities each week. They must also be able to attend up to two weekly meetings during regular office hours, either in-person or on Zoom. Fellows must be residents of New York State, as A Public Space is not currently able to support work visas. Proof of residency will be required. Applications will be accepted through Submittable. A resume and four other statements/documents will be required.
