Scout Books & MediaScout Books & Media, Inc. is looking for a motivated intern to work in its busy publishing office  producing children’s nonfiction and fiction books for the trade, mass, and educational markets. He/she will learn how a book is made from start to finish, from photo research to licensing and permissions agreements to working with authors, editors, and designers and will be involved with editorial development, research, photo research and rights, presentation materials, and more.

Scout  Books & Media was founded by Susan Knopf in 2011 as a book packager, literary agency, and consulting firm.  Her previous experience includes packaging books with Reading Rainbow in its fledgling days, headed up publishing imprints at HarperCollins, Penguin, and Parachute (producer of John Deere, Seventeen magazine, Goosebumps, and Mary-Kate & Ashley books).

Susan works with talented writers, editors, and designers to create and produce books, represent authors and properties as a literary agent, and consult with publishers and brands.  In addition, she is a long-time board member of the American Book Producers Association, a group of some three dozen book packagers, and an intern would have an opportunity to be exposed to other producers if interested.

Intern candidates must be able to receive course credit from an accredited university.  He/she will be expected to work 16 hour/week. There will be a weekly stipend to cover transportation expenses.
