This past Wednesday, December 4th, students from the MS in Publishing program gathered at the Pub Office to celebrate the last book swap of the semester. With the theme of a mystery book swap, where every single book was wrapped, each student picked their titles based on a small description of the plot, author bio, or trope.
Fantasy, science fiction, mystery, romance, among others, were some of the genres available to choose from. Among the wrapped titles, bookish discussions, and excitement for the end of the semester, students were able to establish conversations with their friends from the same classes and connect again with those from different courses.
Some of the descriptions of the books that were chosen during this mystery book swap were:
- Love lost, summer story, sudden family sickness
- College romance, athlete and nerdy girl
- Middle grade fantasy, Bangali Folklore, warrior princess
- Historical fiction, transgender fiction, set in London
- African fantasy, missing child, 2nd in a trilogy
Given the time of the holidays, this was the perfect event for students to unwrap their next read, share some book recommendations with their peers, and enjoy a sweet treat at the office.
What a delightful event to wrap up the semester! 🎁📚 The mystery book swap sounds like a perfect way to discover new genres and stories while connecting with fellow students. The creativity in the book descriptions is so intriguing, and the variety of genres ensures something for everyone. Such a heartwarming way to celebrate the holidays and a shared love for books! 🌟
