Cindy Francois, a MS in Publishing student in Prof. Dennings PUB 699A, Internship I class this semester is interning with Ms Linda Epstein, an Associate Agent at the Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency. Cindy recently wrote a post for Ms. Epstein’s blog, The Blabbermouth Blog, about her work as intern entitled, “Inside Scoop: Dish from the Literary Agency Intern.” Click here to read Cindy’s post.
I think Cindy is doing a great job at the Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency with Ms Linda Epstein. Her blog clearly demonstrated show she selected queries and what kind of manuscript she is looking for. For our recent industry, not only publishers/agents need to figure out their target audience and partners, authors should also do the research. They have to change to adopt to the reality. Authors should know who will read their works, who are interested in publishing their works and who can help them publish the books. Opportunities are always be there for those who are prepared.
I am enrolled in PUB 699 with Cindy and even though she posted this link sometime last week, I was unable to read her post until today. I must say, I absolutely loved it. Incorporating her own experiences both as an intern and a writer, Cindy provides future writers with very helpful tips and information for their submissions. There is reasoning behind every requirement the agency asks of submissions and Cindy does a terrific job of explaining the importance while using her own personal experiences as well. Her perspective is one that is very beneficial, recognizing that this process is a crucial first-step for writers and each requirement should be followed carefully. Well done, Cindy!
