The MS in Publishing program held their MS in Publishing in person Orientation on Thursday, September 5th. New students gathered around with inquisitive and hopeful energy as faculty shared their positions in the program, experience working in the publishing industry, insightful advice for students to succeed in the program, and well wishes for the semester. We were happily joined by Professor Kreit, Professor Soares, Professor Romanello, Professor Levitz, and Professor Napp. Professor Levitz has also been proudly plugging Blink Twice, a suspenseful film in theatres now, directed by Zoe Kravitz, starring Channing Tatum, and produced by his son, Garret Levitz.  It’s not a gentle film, but a powerful exploration of the exploitation of women and their empowerment. How exciting!

We were also joined by our new Graduate Assistant Chardonnae Simpson and our new Student Aide, Oriana Galvis Marin. They introduced themselves and let students know that they will be there if they need anything. Students in their second year of the program also shared their experience in the program and the opportunities they have taken advantage of thus far, including Valentina Lopez-Perez, who was selected to attend the Frankfurt Book fair this fall with Professor Soares.

After much discussion about the MS in Publishing program and the Fall semester, faculty and students indulged in pizza and engaging conversation. New students started building community and connection, some even discovering that they have all the same classes together this semester. We look forward to the success of the fall semester and all the opportunities and fond memories it will bring!
